IT’S TIME FOR A HOLIDAY!

After a busy year, Rob and I are about to travel to Tasmania for a wonderful holiday before heading to Noosa for a family Christmas. So I have decided to take a break during December to enjoy travel, family and a milestone birthday.

One of the activities we are looking forward to is a Gordon River Cruise to see this World Heritage listed wilderness.

I will share our adventures and discoveries on Facebook but will rest my blog during December.

There are many exciting things planned for 2022 and I look forward to sharing them with you very soon.

Wishing you and your family a festive holiday season.

Until next time, happy stamping.

A CHRISTMAS THEMED CARD FOR #GDP319

This is the last Global Design Project card I will be sharing for 2021. Next week Rob and I are off to Tasmania for a couple of weeks and then, a few days after we return, we will be heading to Noosa for an extended family Christmas.

This week’s theme is –

I decided to go right to the middle and choose Christmas trees as my inspiration.

I used the Stitched Triangle Dies to cut lots of gray and silver trees from a variety of papers – Peaceful Place Specialty Designer Series Paper, Black Glitter Paper, Hydrangea Hill Mercury Glass Designer Acetate and a small scrap of retired Silver Foil.

After choosing a Basic Gray card base, I embossed a piece of Basic White cardstock using the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder.

I layered the tree triangles across the card front using Multipurpose Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals to create height and depth.

The silver star was cut using the Stockings Dies.

I love the way the silver foil and acetate reflect light and make the card shine.

I added a tree to the card insert and envelope to tie all the elements together.

There is no extra bling on the card – all the silver is more than enough.

The greeting, “this wondrous season”, is from the Heartfelt Wishes Stamp Set and was stamped in Basic Gray onto a piece of Peaceful Place Specialty DSP. It was trimmed down and then layered across the trees at the bottom of the card.

I’m looking forward to rejoining the Global Design Project challenges next year.

Until next time, happy stamping.

COLOURFUL CHRISTMAS BAUBLES AND BELLS

This week the Freshly Brewed Project team want to share a project for Christmas that is funky and using bright colours.

When I saw the theme for this week’s blog hop I knew that I wanted to use the Rainbow Glimmer Paper and the Gingerbread Dies.

The Rainbow Glimmer Paper was used to cut the background layers for bells and baubles. Then, after adding Adhesive Sheets to the back of some coordinating cardstock, I cut the more intricate layers and secured them to the glimmer paper shapes.

When the five shapes were completed I punched holes in the tops so that I could thread the silver Simply Elegant Trim through the three bells. Once threaded, I adhered the bells to the front of the card. The silver thread was looped and secured with Mini Glue Dots before I wrapped it around the top of card a few times ad tied it off with a knot.

The two baubles had some of the silver trim threaded through the small holes and was then tied to the original trim and tied in a bow.

The greeting, from the Heartfelt Wishes Stamp Set, was stamped in Bermuda Bay onto Basic White card. After trimming this piece down I cut a coordinating piece of the Glimmer Paper. Both layers were secured using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I cut two extra glimmer shapes to use inside the card and the envelope.

With all the glimmer from the rainbow paper I decided not to add any more bling to the card.

I’m happy with my colourful Christmas card – I’m not sure if it could be described as ‘funky’, but it is indeed colourful.

Make sure you hop on over to see what the other Freshly Brewed crew members have made.

Until next time, happy stamping.
