A WEDDING GIFT FOR MY NEPHEW & HIS FIANCE

Monday posts are usually related to memory keeping. Today’s is about the start of new memories. My nephew, Will, is marrying his fiance, Madison, in September on a beach in Noosa.

After we received our invitation I contacted him and asked if would like me to create ‘thank you’ cards for them to send to their guests as a part of our wedding gift to them. I was delighted when they accepted my offer.

I created five different cards and asked them to tell me what style, layout, colours, textures, embellishments and greeting that they wanted.

They let me know that they wanted card #1 – my first and favourite design.

A week later, and after lots and lots of die cutting and embossing, I packed the 55 cards needed into decorated boxes and sent posted them.

I am looking forward to joining them, firends and family, in mid-September.

The basic recipe for this card – Thick Basic White card base; Peaceful Pine background layer; a Soft Waves embossed Thick Basic White layer; 8 Boutique Blossoms Die cut leaf stems in Basic White, Peaceful Pine and vellum; Words & Wishes die cut ‘thank you’ in Peaceful Pine & Basic White; and, white Shimmering Dots.

Will and Madison have 50 guests, so I made 55 cards – if they are anything like me, there will be some messy writing or errors.

I repurposed some empty kit boxes so that it looked like I was sending a gift.

Now for the tally – 55 Thick Basic White card bases, 55 Peaceful Pine background layers, 55 embossed Basic White layers, 445 die cut leaf stems (8 per card), 220 separate die cuts to create 55 ‘thank you’ greetings, 165 white Shimmering Dots, 55 x 24″ lengths of Linen Thread, and 55 envelopes.

I’m sure that I am not the only person who has created a gift of love for someone in their life.

This project is a way for me to show my nephew that we are still connected in a very meaningful way.

It is wonderful that my paper crafting can allow me to do this.

Toomorrow I will start sharing some projects using the Waterside Retreat Suite.

Until then, happy stamping and memorykeeping.

TIME FOR CELEBRATIONS

Weddings and birthdays always call for some special card creations.

First to some weddings – my youngest daughter asked me to make a card for her friend’s upcoming wedding.

I started by choosing the papers I would use – Lunar Lustre, Shimmering Stripes, vellum and Lost Lagoon.

The panel of Shimmering Stripes was embossed using the So Swirly Embossing Folder (last chance).

I used two of the Branching Out Dies to create the layers that I decorated with die cut Boutique Blossoms leaves and the initials of the bride and groom.

Although retired, the Lost Lagoon Soft Cording was perfect for this card.

I made a custom envelope for the card and decorated in a similar way to the card.

The ‘Mr & Mrs’ from the retired To Have & To Hold stamp Set was used for the front of the envelope.

I used the Stampin’ Positioner to stamp the greeting in Lost Lagoon and then Versamark before sprinkling some clear embossing powder and heating it.

The card and envelope were embellished with some of the Adhesive-backed Blooms.

After finishing this card and being really happy with the way it looked, I repeated the process and made a second card for my nephew’s wedding later in the year.

I’m looking forward to these cards being given to the lovely couples.

This is why cardmaking is so special to me.

Tomorrow I have a birthday card to share.

Until then, happy stamping.
