SKETCH CHALLENGE #GDP306

Hello everyone and welcome to today’s project share. I appreciate the time each of you take when you pop by.

As many of you know, I have been trying to be involved in as many blog hops and challenges as I can. They are a great way to try something new and they give me a concept for another project.

Today’s project is for the Global Design Project Sketch Challenge. If you pop over to the GDP website, you can see the cards made by their design team and the projects that are being entered into the challenge. If you click on the sketch challenge image below, the link will take you there.

For my project I wanted to use the new Cork Specialty Paper as well as the Garden Birdhouses Stamp Set. I hope you like the end result.

After preparing the Early Espresso card base, I cut the Cork frame using the Stitched Rectangle Dies. I also cut a White Vellum frame using the Scalloped Contours Dies. The vellum was then coloured using the Dark So Succulent Stampin’ Blend. These two frames were then glued together.

I stamped and coloured the birdhouse and bird images onto a die cut piece of Very Vanilla cardstock before placing it in the centre of the card front, using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The layered frame was then centred on the card front and popped up using more Dimensionals.

The branch, from the Birds & More Dies, was cut from a piece of Soft Succulent card that had Foam Adhesive Sheet attached. I positioned the branch to sweep across the top of the frame and the foam sheet added height to the card. The greeting was fussy cut and attached to the bottom of the frame.

I stamped the birdhouse on the card insert and envelope before adding a few 2021 – 2023 In Colour Jewels to the card.

It’s been a while since I’ve used dies from so many different sets for one project. I love the versatility of my Stampin’ Up!® products.

I think this card would be perfect, with a pillow gitft, for someone visiting your home.

Until next time, happy stamping.

MASKING & BLENDING

I had the BIRDS AND BRANCHES STAMP SET and DIES on my list of products to use this week.

At the beginning of each week I write a list of all the products and projects I want to use and create. It also has all my other Stamin’ Time tasks I want to achieve.

As I looked at the dies, I imagined how I could make a mask and use the new BLENDING BRUSHES to create a sunset image.

The die is reasonably intricate but I was able to achieve the crisp edges of the colouring by using some masking sheets (not a Stampin’ Up!® product, unfortunately).

I used Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie.

The branch was cut from a piece of Whisper White cardstock that was popped up onto a piece of FOAM ADHESIVE SHEET. Then I used some of my STAMPIN’ BLENDS to colour it – Mango Melody, Mossy Meadow and Soft Suede. The four circles then had some SHIMMERY CRYSTAL EFFECTS added.

The sentiment is from the BLOOM AND GROW STAMP SET.

The Whisper White card insert was die cut, as was a piece of Pumpkin Pie card for the front of the envelope.

I’m looking forward to use the BLENDING BRUSHES more and developing my techniques when blending.

Thanks for popping by … happy stamping.

These are the products I used to make this card – the new BLENDING BRUSHES are not available until the January to June Mini Catalogue goes live to customers. They come in pack of three for $21, before postage.

If you live in Australia, I would be happy to help you place an order for any of them through me.

BIRDS AND THEIR FEATHERS

I have been working on a project for an online colour challenge – a Facebook group, Colour INKspiration Challenges, posts a new challenge every fortnight.

The most recent challenge was inspired by this cute pair of boots – and, again, this would not be my ‘go to’ colour combination.

Image may contain: shoes and boots

At first, I started using the BIRDS AND BRANCHES BUNDLE but wasn’t thrilled with the results. I wasn’t feeling my designing mojo.

I like playing with layering and dimension – but these cards are not doing it for me.

So, I decided to go on a different tangent – feathers!

I used the NATURE’S THOUGHTS DIES to cut lots of feathers in the three colour challenge colours.

Then, I used the new OLD WORLD PAPER 3D EMBOSSING FOLDER to create this amazing effect – a technique that I haven’t used in way to many years!

And, yes – I am happy now!

The sentiment is from the TASTEFUL TOUCHES STAMP SET and I used the TASTEFUL LABELS DIES to cut it out.

I love the feel of the WHISPER WHITE 1/2″ FAUX LINEN RIBBON from the FLOWERS FOR EVERY SEASON RIBBON COMBO PACK. I will be ordering quite a few more of this pack.

I am much happier with this final card.

It just goes to show that you don’t always get it ‘right’ the first time around.

This proves that perseverance pays off – and that you can reclaim your mojo!

Thanks for popping by … happy stamping.
