WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEDNESDAY – UPDATES & A NEW PROJECT

Well, this Wednesday there is alot happening in the Stampin’ Up! world.

We have some updates about cling stamps and Stampin’ Write Markers, as well as some exciting news about new coordinating packaging for stamps and dies. Here’s a quick snapshot:

Cling Stamps (Red Rubber)
Stampin’ Up! has decided to discontinue their cling stamp line due to key raw materials becoming increasingly difficult to source, with some no longer being manufactured at all. They will continue to offer a wide range of photopolymer stamps to support various artistic styles and techniques.

Stampin’ Write Markers
SU has also decided to discontinue Stampin’ Write Markers. With the growing popularity of Stampin’ Blends, they’ve seen a steady decline in sales of Stampin’ Write Markers. One of the primary techniques unique to Stampin’ Write Markers is colouring directly on cling stamps—a technique that will become less relevant as they transition away from cling.

New and Improved Stamp and Die Packaging
As part of the transition away from cling stamps, SU is excited to introduce updated packaging for stamps and dies! Because photopolymer stamps are thinner, they’re able to offer sleeker, slimmer packaging that saves space. Both stamps and dies will now come in the same size and style of packaging, making it easier than ever to store bundles and coordinating products together. The new packaging is similar to current die packaging—durable, clear plastic envelopes—but with an exciting improvement: Die packaging will now feature printed artwork for quick and easy identification! Stamp packaging will continue to display artwork as well.

Today’s project is a card using the leaves from the Harvest Home Garland Kit.

I used the Dark Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends marker to flick specks of gray across the Very Vanilla panel. Then I wrapped Gray Granite Twine around it, tied a bow and then adhered it to a Basic Gray cardbase.

The three banners, from the party Banners Dies, were cut from Two-tone cardstock. So when I frayed the edges of the banners, the white core was revealed.

The banners were layered with leaves inserted within each layer.

Then I added the Soft Sea Foam and textured gray leaves on the top layer.

The birthday greeting is from the Loveliest Tree Stamp Set. After stamping it, I used one of the Nested Essentials Dies to cut it.

The card insert and envelope also had gray flecks added to them.

Finally, I added some Very Vanilla Neutral Matte Dots to the card.

Tomorrow I have a 3D project to share with you.

Until then, happy staming and scrapbooking.

TUESDAY IS MY DAY FOR CARD MAKING TIPS & TECHNIQUES

As I mentioned yesterday, I am featuring the Harvest Home Garland Kit and ways to use it that do not result in a garland!

The technique today is BLACK ICE.

I cut two panels of the Earthen Toned Metallic 12’x 12″ Specialty paper and then embossed them – one using the Soft Waves 3D Embossing Folder and the other with the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Foder.

Then I dragged the Jet Black StazOn ink pad across the embossed surfaces. This is the Black ice technique

TIP: If it has been a while since you have used your StazOn, make sure you reink the pad and make it nice and juicy.

After adhering the embossed and inked metallic panel, I took a length of Basic Black twine, from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack, and separatd the four strands. Then I wrapped the strands around the stem of one of the foil leaves and tied a bow. I used some Black Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach the leaf to the card.

The ‘thank you’ greeting, from the Loveliest Tree Stamp Set, was stamped onto a small piece of the Specialty Paper and cut with one of the Nested Essentials Dies. A few more dimensionals were used to add the greeting to the card front.

I added some black dots, from the Neutral Matte Dots pacl, to the front of the card.

Then some of the foil leaves were added to the card insert and back of the envelope.

The next card is a variation on the first one – it uses the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder, more of the foil leaves and a different greeting, from the same stamp set.

TIP: Use a number of layered dimensionals to lift each leaf up higher than the one before.

Instead of using the separated twine to tie a bow around the leaf stem, I looped them behind the greeting panel.

Just like the first card, I added the Neutrl Matte Dots to the card front and foil leaves inside the card and on the back of the envelope.

It has been s long since I used the Black ics technique and I am so pleased that I have rediscovered it.

Have you used this technique before?

If you have please share your creations.

Tomorrow I have a new project to share with you, as well as some of the katest updates from Stampin’ Up!

Until then, happy stamping ad scrapbooking.

MEMORY KEEPING IS MY GO TO MONDAY FUN

Another week and another great product to showcase.

This week I am taking a kit and doing something completely different with it.

I am using the Harvest Home Garland Kit this week for my usual weekly project shares – a scrapbooking layout, cards and a 3D item

I knew the leaves contained in the kit would be perfect for a scrapbook layout.

Somewhere, I have a number of photos taken on a trip to the US where we visited the New England region during ‘fall’. So I will be able to add some of these to this page. Then I can add some hand written journaling around the wreath.

I used a Very Vanilla 12″x 12″ Two-tone card as the base.

Then I used a bowl to sketch the outline for the wreath.

I started by roughly positioning the leaves around the circle before going back and adhering them in place.

The acorn embellishments were cut in half and glued in place.

The photo placement panel combines Basic Gray, Soft Sea Foam and Basic White layers.

The title uses Cajun Craze Two-tone card, Adhesive Sheets and the Mini Alphabet Dies.

The final feature is a triple Linen Thread bow.

Tomorrow I will have card to share with you.

Until then, happy stamping and scrapbooking.
