WINGED GIFT BOX INSTRUCTIONS

I have been asked by a couple of people to post the instructions for the Botanical Gardens Winged Gift Box that was posted a little while ago …

Those coming along to my February Stampin’ Time class will be making this gift box as well as a greeting card and gift tag.

So … if you can’t make it along, you can still make the gift box. It has hinged cover panels that open out like wings … to reveal whatever treasure you place inside.

This was inspired by the Winged Gift Box posted on Youtube by Elizabeth from Crafts by Happy Stamper … thank you Elizabeth for sharing this.

# colour error – I used Delightful Dijon rather than Hello Honey

Project Recipe:

  1. Cut:
    * one 8 1/4 by 8 1/4 piece of Basic Black card
    * two 5 1/2 by 5 1/2 pieces of Basic Black card and
    * three 2 58 by 2 5/8 pieces of Botanical Gardens DSP
  2. Take the large Basic Black card square and score at 2 3/4 and 5 1/2.
    Turn the card 90 degrees and repeat the scorelines.
    Take a bone folder and burnish the scorelines.
  3. Cut each of the four sides as shown in the sketched outline below ….
    Use tear and tape adhesive or other strong adhesive to assemble the gift box base.
  4. Take the two 5 1/2 by 5 1/2 Basic Black card pieces and score at 2 3/4 twice to create four segments.
    Take a bone folder and burnish the scorelines.
    Trim three sides back and score the fourth, as shown below – image with DSP triangles.
  5. Cut along one the bottom right hand crease line, as shown in the same image.
  6. Take the three square DSP pieces and cut in half diagonally. Adhere three of the DSP triangles to each of the black winged bases, as shown before.
  7. Use a strong adhesive, such as Tombow, to secure the triangle without DSP to create the hinged top piece, see the pencil instruction in the last image.
  8. Using a strong adhesive, attach the winged top pieces to the gift box base.
  9. Attach the ribbon securely to the base of the gift box and secure under the flowers.
    [An optional 2 1/2 by 2 1/2 piece of basic black card can be adhered to the base of the gift box to ensure a very secure attachment of the ribbon.]
  10. Using scraps of the coloured card stock, found in the supplies list, to stamp, cut and sponge the leaves and flowers illustrated.
    Adhere securely with glue dots and/or adhesive.
    Attach basic black candy dots and white perfect accents to the centres of the flowers.
  11. Using the Botanical Gardens Designer Washi Tape cover the edges of the winged hinge and trim.

MORE SNEAK PEEKS …

One thing that I enjoy is the time during holidays to blissfully craft away without any thought of ‘what should I be doing now?’ …

and … when holidays coincide with new catalogue release dates … it is really a great time … so, here are two more sneak peeks – two new cards created using a range of brand new products that become available for customer to order from 5th January – almost there!!

Blackberry Bliss and Hello Honey meet the Grateful Bunch Stamp Set and Blossom Bunch Punch featured in the Occasions Catalogue … as well as the Floral Wings Stamp Set (Hostess set from the 2015-2016 Annual Catalogue).

This is a remake/CASE of a gift card package that I made a little while ago in one of Tanya Bell’s classes (Stampin’ T) … when people ask me why I am ‘with Stampin’ Up!’, my answer always reflects my continuing excitement about the SU product range and the coordination and integration of colour, shape, style, paper, ink, stamp sets, tools … there is no ‘guess work’ … it all works together!
