PETALS – HAND PENNED & BEAUTIFULLY PENNED

Hello and welcome to my Friday post. Thank you so much for taking the time to pop by.

On Monday, I shared a card that featured Designer Series Paper from the Annual Catalogue and the upcoming Sale-a-bration Brochure, as well as some other new products from the soon to be available July-December Mini Catalogue.

The Hand Penned DSP, from the Annual Catalogue, is an impressive collection of hand drawn floral and patterned images that are stunningly water coloured. The Sale-a-bration Brochure has a coordinating, black and white collection of six of the 12 designs from the Hand Penned bundle.

Today’s project uses the same design from each of the DSP bundles.

I started by cutting a piece each from each sheet of DSP in the same place – the two pieces are an exact match. Then I overlapped the two pieces of DSP and used one of the Scalloped Contour Dies to cut out a panel in both pieces. This ensured that when I placed the coloured Hand Penned piece inside the space left in the black and white layer it would align perfectly.

After securing these two DSP layers to the Garden Green card front I stamped one of the floral images, from the Hand Penned Petals Stamp Set, and the sentiment, from the Inspired Thoughts Stamp Set, onto White Vellum using Jet Black StazOn ink. These elements were then cut using coordinating dies from the Penned Flowers Dies and Scalloped Contour Dies. They were then attached to the card front using Stampin’ Seal and Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Making a sympathy card is always a bit of a challenge. I didn’t want to make it look too ‘sad’. The use of colour is important – black and white is respectful of the occasion and tradition; green suggests new life and growth; and the opaque nature of the vellum can symbolise transition.

I used the totally amazing Black & White Gingham Ribbon, from the new Mini Catalogue, and black twine, from the Annual Catalogue, to create this double bow. Then it was secured in the lower right-hand area of the card with a Mini Glue Dot.

The same floral image was stamped on the card inseet and envelope front. Finally, I added some Matt Black Dots in three of the flower centres.

I love this new Black & White Gingham Ribbon – it is going to be so popular and so versatile. What do you think? Will it be on your wishlist?

I look forward to you popping by again tomorrow. Happy stamping.
