GLOBAL DESIGN PROJECT #304

Hello. I’m a bit late posting today but I have finally made it. Thanks for popping by.

This week’s GDP Challenge is CASE the Designer. The designer in Kerstan Kreis from Germany.

CASE = Copy And Selectively Edit

As a guide, participants are to take something we like from the design and make it our own. It might be the stamp set – the colors, the layout, the theme, the images – whatever we like that has inspired each of us to make a card of our own.

I decided to copy the woven features of Kerstan’s card. As a one time Home Economics teacher I thought that it would fun to weave some ribbons. I chose colours that would suit an Autumn palette so that I could feature one of the Stitched Leaves Dies.

The first thing I did was to weave three ribbons together – Cherry Cobbler & Gold Metallic Ribbon, Gold Shimmer Ribbon and Old Olive/Pretty Peacock Reversible Ribbon. I secured the ribbons in place and made sure they were taut.

I used one of the Stitched Leaves Dies to make a negative space and frame to feature the ribbons. Black Stampin’ Dimnesionals were used to lift the frame above the ribbon. A layer of Gold Foil was placed underneath.

The Cherry Cobbler card base was cut using the Stitched Greenery Dies.

The greeting is from the Lovely You Stamp Set and it was heat embossed, onto a small scrap of Basic Black, using Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

After cutting a second leaf, I adhered one on the card insert and one on the front of the envelope. Finally, some Gold Metallic Pearls were added.

I am so very pleased with the way my GDP Challenge card has turned out. Participating in these weekly challenges is a great way to encourage me to design better cards.

Until next time, happy stamping.
