SAILING HOME

After making all those Wine Bottle Hanging Tags this week, I had so many ship’s wheels left over.

Rather than throw them out, I needed to find a way to use them. That’s when I remembered an EMBOSSING FOLDER TECHNIQUE that I have used a few times.

And, the timing is perfect – it coincides with the latest FRESHLY BREWED PROJECTS BLOG HOP – EMBOSSING FOLDER TECHNIQUES.

For this technique you need lots of die cut or punched shapes, preferably in differents colours. Then you glue them onto a piece of card stock, cut to whatever size suits your project. Once the glue is dry, place the card into your chosen embossing folder and run it through the STAMPIN’ CUT & EMBOSS MACHINE.

I chose the OLD WORLDPAPER 3D EMBOSSING FOLDER for this project.

One benefit of this project is that I get to use the SAILING HOME STAMP SET and coordinating SMOOTH SAILING DIES again. It’s been ages since I last used the stamp set.

I used some of my STAMPIN’ WRITE MARKERS™ to colour directly onto the lighthouse stamp.

The STITCHED SO SWEETLY DIES are some of my favourites. I then punched out slits so that I could thread the ribbon through. A bit of bling and it’s all done.

Make sure you pop by the FRESHLY BREWED PROJECTS BLOG HOP -to see some other EMBOSSING FOLDER TECHNIQUES.

Thanks for popping by … happy stamping.

These are the products I used to make this card. If you live in Australia, you can order any of these through me.

GLOBAL DESIGN CHALLENGE

This week’s GDP#269 is a COLOUR CHALLENGE.

I mentioned, in an early post, that one of my goals is to participate in more blog hops and challenges – this is week two and I’m still enjoying the challenge.

I have been playing with the new BLENDING BRUSHES, that will be available to customers from January, when our new January to June Mini Catalogue goes live.

So, I decided to use the brushes to blend Garden Green and Just Jade as onto Whisper White cardstock. Then I used that to cut a branch from the BEAUTIFUL BOUGHS DIES. I also cut two more branches from vellum.

I overlapped the branches and secured them using mini glue dots. The REAL RED BRAIDED LINEN TRIM was perfect to tie a bow around the branches. I finished this part of the card with a generous application of CLEAR WINK OF STELLA.

The layer of Whisper White was given texture using the SUBTLE 3D EMBOSSING FOLDER.

A piece of PLUSH POINSETTIA SPECIALTY PAPER was placed over the textured layer. I popped a few dimensionals under the branches before placing into position.

The Real Red MERRY CHRISTMAS was cut using the WORD WISHES DIES. The cardstock had someFOAM ADHESIVE SHEET so that it would have height on the card front.

The final, blingy element comes courtesy of some RED RHINESTONE BASIC JEWELS.

Two smaller branches were cut from the same blended background and attached to the card insert and envelope fornt.

It’s the first of December and getting closer to Christmas. This may well be one f the last Christmas cards I make this year.

Thanks for popping by … happy stamping.

PLAID CELEBRATIONS

I am still working my way through my stamp sets, dies and other products – to find those sitting on my shelves that I have not used very often.

Today I need to get creative with the BEST YEAR STAMP SET (not used at all) and the BEST PLAID BUILDER DIES ( used once).

Who else has Stampin’ Up!® products that they have never used – or used, just once or twice? We are still have our 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue for seven months, so I totally want to get the most out of what I have – just in case any of them are retired.

As a demonstrator, I choose to find new homes for retired products. I want to be able to share projects with my friends and customers that use products they can order because they are current.

This project has been gurgling away in my mind for quite some time.

I wanted to make a gift box using the dies. So, I took some measurements and did some sketching. I like to plan before I start cutting and glueing.

The end result is a gift box measuring 6″x 6″x 4.5″.

The plaid was created by die cutting one layer in Poppy Parade and the second layer in Night of Navy. These layers were then adhered to pieces of Whisper White cardstock, measuring 6.5″x 4.75″.

The box lid was created by using a 12″x 12″ piece of Night of Navy cardstock, cut down to 10″x 10″ and scored at 2″ on each side.

I used my STAMPARATUS to stamp one of the GIFT WRAPPED bows onto the Whisper White box lid, in Night of Navy. – four times around the cardstock. Then, I punched BOWS from some Night of Navy cardstock and bow centres from Poppy Parade card. The Night of Navy bows were curled using a bone folder.

The sentiment was coloured using the Stampin’ Write Markers™ Night of Navy and Poppy Parade. It was cut using the STITCHED RECTANGLES DIES.

I stamped and punched out each the bows that are adhered to the four sides of the gift box. The Poppy Parade bow has been popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

As I mentioned before, this gift box measures 6″x 6″x 4.5″. It is quite a large gift box – what would you pop inside it? Who would you give it to?

Thanks for popping by … happy stamping.

These are the products I used to make this gift box. If you live in Australia, I would be very happy to help you place an order for any of them.
