When I first saw the Velvet Meadows Suite Collection I knew that I should use the Designer Series Paper for a Memory Keeping layout featuring photos from our visit to Monet’s House and Garden earlier this year.

My husband and I enjoyed a long trip overseas with highlights including our first experiences in Chile and Argentina, cruising Antartica, my OnStage event in Cologne and a month travelling the smaller towns of France. Just before we were due to fly home, we spent a couple of nights in Vernon so that we could visit Monet’s House and Gardens in Giverny. I booked our tickets as soon as they came online months earlier.

I chose the Cloud Cover small checked DSP for the base pages. Then I added wide strips of Basic White and Peaceful Pine 12″x12″ paper and a panel of one of the DSP designs on the right hand side of each of the two base pages.

Then I added three 6.25″x 4.25″ Cloud Cover panels on each page to provide a backing for the photos.

On each page I added Flip Flaps to layer photographs.

On the first page,titled “Monet’s”, I used two of my photos of Monet’s home and then three floral iamges from the gorgeous gardens. We visited in early Spring and the flowers were in full bloom and incredibly colourful.

The great thing about Flip Flaps is that I can include more photos on each page.

On this, and the next page, I die cut floral images from Velveteen Assortment Specialty Paper to incorporate onto each page.

On the second page I placed the photos in a similar way and used Flip Flpas to present more images.

I used the Extraordinary Life dies to cut a note page, drew some writing lines with my Journalling Pen and then wrote my memory of this experience.

It is amazing that using some Flip Flaps that I can share more photos on my Memory Keeping pages.

The Japanese inspired water garden had only a few water lilies in bloom but it was still a stunning sight to see.

Our day in Giverny also included a stroll through the town and a visit to the Musee des Impressionismes that highlighted the history and evolution of the Impressionist art movement. It had an amazing collection of Monet’s paintings.

For the rest of this week I have projects featuring the Velvet Meadow Specialty Designer Series Paper.
