AMOUR

I have seen lots of wonderful cards made using the sepia colouring technique. I have not tried this before, so it was time to give it a go.

The PARISIAN BEAUTY stamps was my go to set for this project. Crumb Cake was my base colour for the technique, but because I made this card for the #76 Colour INKspiration Challenge, three other colours were used – Cherry Cobbler, Pear Pizzazz and Pumpkin Pie.

When I think of sepia, I always think of very old, vintage photographs. To give the card a vintage feel I distressed the edges of the Fluid 100 Water Colour Paper and the Cherry Cobbler mat.

Each of the fleur de lis were stamped, water coloured, die cut and popped up onto a Dimensional and then given some Clear Wink of Stella attention.

Stamping off allowed me to achieve two different tones of the Crumb Cake for the script stamp. It was also an effective way to soften the other three colours when I stamped the fleur de lis banner stamp.

The Eiffel Tower stamp was mounted onto my Stamparatus because I stamped this several times to build up colour as I stamped, water coloured, dried, restamped and used markers to directly add colour to the stamp. It took several trials to get to the final image.

I thought that I’d share some close up images – it is interesting to see the way the layers of water colouring create a sense of texture.

Thank you to all those lovely crafters who shared their video tutorials.

Thanks for popping by … happy stamping.

ANZAC DAY

Today is ANZAC DAY and although the usual Dawn Services and commemorative marches will not take place this year, I am making a number of these gift boxes to take to my local RSL, when it is safe to do so[The Returned and Services League, Australia is a support organisation for men and women who have served or are serving in the Defence Force].

Each gift box will hold a cellophane package of home baked Anzac biscuits and a sprig of rosemary.

We have been fortunate to travel to many World War I and II sites throughout Europe … we will remember those who fought to protect our way of life.

LEST WE FORGET.

BIRD’S NEST

I kept thinking about using the STITCHED NESTED DIES in a rainbow based card.

This evolved today into a pinks through reds project. I used all eight nesting dies and eight different pieces of coloured cardstock to cut each layer.

Then I overlaid and adhered each of them at different angles, before cutting it back for the front of this card.

A birdcage, from a piece of Bird Ballad DSP, is the background filler.

I stamped a bird, from the FREE AS A BIRD stamp set, and water coloured it and added a touch of Wink of Stella.

A few FROM MY HEART FACETED GEMS gave that touch of bling.

This card is a very different style for me. I am enjoying pushing myself to try something new!

What do you think? I might try the blues next.

Happy stamping.
