Hello to each of you who have popped by today to see my latest project. I cannot thank you enough for taking the time and interest; it is truly appreciated.
Today’s project has been created for this week’s Freshly Brewed Project blog hop. Unfortunately, I missed the past two but am very pleased to be making up for lost time.
This week’s theme is CRITTERS and the brief highlighted that there are many critters in the new catalogue … fluffy, cute, artistic, feathers, fins and so much more. Our task was to create a project featuring one of the many critters we can choose from.
My chosen critter is cute, artistic and has an outer shell.
As you can see, I have chosen to use the totally cute Turtle Friends Bundle for this challenge. So at first sight, you can see the tiered turtles and blocks of colour below. Let me show you how I put all of this together.
I was inspired by Donna Gray’s Facebook Live this morning. She used the new Watercolour Shapes Stamps for her projects. I do not have this set yet but still wanted to try to achieve something similar. I used one of my G acrylic blocks to ink and stamp each of the layers that you can see. When this was dry I then cut the paper into 1/2″ strips and alternated and adhered them on the card front layer.
I stamped two of the largest turtle, using Memento ink, onto some soon to retire Oh So Ombre 6″x 6″ DSP and used Granny Apple Green ink to add the turtleshell elements. For the turtle stamped onto Basic White as a reversed image, I used my Stamparatus and Silicon Mat to achieve this image. The sentiment was then stamped using Granny Apple Green ink. The party hat was stamped using Granny Apple Green and coloured using Stampin’ Write Markers™ in Granny Apple Green and Mango Melody.
The turtles were overlapped, with feet alternating, and adhered. The turtle trio was popped up onto the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals – as was the party hat. Some Granny Apple Green grass was also stamped onto the card front.
The birthday greeting was stamped in Bermuda Bay and trimmed back to pop up over the multiple colour strips along the base. Then I used the Dark Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blend to colour some Rhinestone Basic Jewels for the card front.
As I almost always mention, the final step involved me adding an image to the card insert and envelope. For this project, the final step was to stamp one of the smaller turtle images.
And, of course, I needed to add those little grass elements to ground the turtles. This image really shows how amazing inking a block and stamping can look. I added some Clear Wink of Stella onto each of the trurtles scales and also flicked it across the card front. Very blingy turtles indeed!
It was great to use so many new and carry over products for a project. I think this is one of greatest benefits of using Stampin’ Up!® products – the incredible coordination of colours and designs.
