GLOBAL DESIGN PROJECT #GDP344

I missed last week’s #GDP343 Challenge and am so pleased to be back this week enjoying the challenge.

This week it is a CASEing a card challenge.

I decided to CASE the general layout from Charlet’s card.

The Hues of Happiness Suite is my focus this week so I have used these products for this project.

I selected this piece of Pool Party through to Night of Navy Designer Series Paper from the Hues of Happiness DSP pack to cut the largest shape from the Scalloped Contours Dies.

A length of Pool Party 3/8″ Sheer Ribbon was threaded through two of the scallop semi-circles and tied in a bow. Then I added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of this panel and popped it up on the Basic White card base.

The three flowers were stamped using Versamark and then heat embossed with white embossing powder before I cut them with the Blossoming Happiness Dies.

I used one Mini Glue Dot to attach each flower to the front of the card.

Just like Charlett’s card, I stamped a sentiment three times and used white embossing powder on a Night of Navy background. Each birthday greeting was cut into three strips and added to the card front.

I enjoy taking part in the GDP Challenges because it always stretches me creatively – the GDP team is so creative!

Later today I will have a Colour INKspiration project to share.

Until then, happy stamping.

TUESDAY IS ALL ABOUT TECHNIQUES

Today I have a colouring technique to share with you.

I have used colours from both of the Water Colour Pencils packs to add colour to this card.

WATERCOLOR PENCILS
WATERCOLOR PENCILS ASSORTMENT 2

I used Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Greenand Melon Mambo to colour the images I stamped using Night of Navy.

BLENDER PENS
BLENDER PENS 102845 $21
Dual-tipped pens filled with specialized solution for easier blending. 3 acid-free, xylene-free pens.

The Blender Pen allowed me to blend the colours to achieve a smoother look.

It is easy to vary the intensity of the colour by applying different more or less pressure while colouring.

I chose to stamp the images in Night of Navy because this is the colour I used for the card base.

When the flowers and leaves were coloured I cut them using the Blossoming Happiness Dies.

The Basic White layer was cut using the die that creates the torn spiral paper look. The die is part of the Blossoming Happiness Dies. I also tore and distressed the lower part of this layer.

The ‘friend’ greeting was stamped on the white layer before I positioned and adhered the flowers and leaves.

The card insert and envelope both have a Night of Navy rose stamped to embellish these areas.

I finished the card by colouring some Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels using the Dark Night of Navy Stampin’ Blend and positioning them on the card front.

It has been quite a long time since I last used my Water Colour Pencils. It was nice to reconnect with them.

Tomorrow I will have some challenge projects to share with you.

Until then, happy stamping.

MONDAY IS ALL ABOUT SHARING MEMORIES THROUGH SCRAPBOOKING

Memories on Monday takes me back to my first paper crafting memories. I started scrapbooking more than 20 years ago and since then I have spent more time card making than scrapbooking. It is great to return to a regular scrapbooking day.

This week I am featuring the Hues of Happiness Suite Collection.

HUES OF HAPPINESS SUITE COLLECTION (ENGLISH)

For this layout, I imagined a photograph of a gorgeous Spring garden.

After selecting the Designer Series Paper for this layout, I trimmed it down to 8″x 8″ and attached it a piece of 12″x 12″ Daffodil Dleight cardstock.

Then I cut a matte layer for a 6″x 4″ photograph to be added.

Then I used the Alphabest Stamp Set and coordinating punch to create the title for the layout.

Three of the floral images and leaf image were stamped, using Night of Navy ink, directly onto a piece of Designer Series Paper. Each flower and the leaves were then die cut using the Blossoming Happiness Dies.

The flowers and leaves were then arranged around the central photo area and adhered in place.

I finished the layout by using the spiral paper tear away die to cut a Basic White journalling space.

Stamping directly onto Designer Series Paper is one of my favourite techniques.

Tomorrow is Technique Tuesday. I have a few ideas that I am mulling around – you’ll have to wait and see what I decide to do.

Until then, happy stamping.
