The #GDP337 Global Design Project theme this week is a colour challenge.

This week’s colour combination is Soft Sea Foam, Blushing Bride and So Saffron. This is such a sweet and soft colour combimation!

It was an interesting colour combination to use with my featured bundle this week – Cactus Cuties Bundle.

I decided to use a lot of white space for this card. After preparing the card base, I scored three horizontal lines 3/4″, 7/8″ and 1″ from the bottom of the card. I think that you can just see them above the sentiment.

The sentiment was partially stamped so that only ‘a note’ was on the front. The little cactus flower was stamped inside the card and on the envelope.

I stamped the three pots on Blushing Bride and So Saffron cardstock using the same ink colours. When they were dry, I stamped them again using some Whisper White Craft ink.

The cactus shapes were stamped in Soft Sea foam ink onto the same coloured cardstock.

The pots and cactii were then fussy cut before being positioned above the top score line. Each piece had Stampin’ Dimensionals popped behind them.

I coloured a length of White Glittered Organdy Ribbon with the Dark Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Blend. Then the ribbon was cut in half and I created a #tammybow. A Mini Glue Dot secured the ribbon in place.

To finish the card, I coloured some silver shapes, from the Silver & Clear Epoxy Essentials, using Stampin’ Blends.

So far, so good! I have been able to create a project for each GDP challenge using my featured weekly products. Here’s to next week’s challenge.

I wanted to experiment with some acrylic block water colouring. For the first experiment, I used Block F and added ink in 1″ strips directly onto the block. The colours were added in sequence – Cajun Craze, Cinnamon Cider, Evening Evergreen, Just Jade, Garden Green and Granny Apple Green. I used both Classic Stampin’ Pads and Stampin’ Write Markers™.

Then I spritzed water across the block.

I pressed a piece of Shimmery White cardstock onto the block.

The result was a little muddy looking in some areas so I tried a different approach.

This time I chose Block G and used the same cardstock and colours.

I taped the cardstock to stop it from curling up when it was spritzed with water. Then I inked up the small block and pressed it down on the cardstock.

Between each colour being stamped down, I gave the card an extra spritz.

When both samples were dry, I decided to use the second experiment for today’s project.

The layout for this card is symmetrical and quite simple. I used the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder to add texture to the Granny Apple Green layer. Then I adhered it to the Basic Black layer and then the Basic White card base.

The block water coloured panel was trimmed down. A length of black twine, from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack, was wrapped around this panel and then tied in a bow.

A scrap of Basic Black cardstock was used to punch out the cactus and pot. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach the pieces to the card front.

The sentiment was partially inked so that it would only read ‘a note’. It was cut into a small strip and added to the card front with dimensionals.

Finally, I added some Matte Black Dots for decoration.

This technique is a bit messy but I do like the finished look.

Another Monday rolls around and it’s time to share another scrapbook layout. Today’s memories were made in Singapore in 2019 on the homeward bound leg of our two month journey through Eastern Europe.

At first I wasn’t sure that I had any photos that would suit the Cactus Cuties Stamp Set and Cactus Builder Punch. Then I remembered our visit to Gardens by the Bay. In the Flower Dome there is an amazing display of aloes, succulents and cactii.

For the first page I used a Basic White 12″x 12″ sheet of cardstock and a piece of Just Jade cardstock. I chose the brick design from the Bloom Where You’re Planted 12″x 12″ Designer Series Paper.

After positioning the photos on this page, I stamped and fussy cut/punched the pots and cactii. These were glued down using Multi Purpose Glue.

I added a small amount a journaling over the bricks.

This area of the garden is titled ‘Aloes in Wonderland’ and has a number of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ statues interspersed among the plants. I thought this was such a clever play on words. Isn’t Alice cute?

This page is almost a mirror image of the first. Instead of using Just Jade cardstock I chose the timber plank design from the same DSP collection. After cutting three 1″ strips of Cinnamon Cider cardstock across the timber paper.

The next collection of photos were added and more pots and cactii to decorate the page.

The White Rabbit looks very dapper in his jacket, checking his pocket watch.

I love all the vibrant greens that are on display in this garden.
