APOLOGIES …

I have been very slow to return to my blog since my last post …. we missed Caitlyn and Bryn’s wedding because my husband/travelling partner and I have been rediscovering our travel bug!

After months and months of research and planning we flew out of Australia on the 20th September … and returned on the 14th October … a touch under four weeks. We were able to combine our two week school holiday break with some long service leave … and we had an amazing time!

Philadelphia, Boston, Cape Cod, White Mountains and Acadia National Park regions, Salem, Nova Scotia [albeit only the bottom third] and the breathtakingly stunning national parks and canyons in Nevada, Utah and Arizona.

THANKING STRANGERS …. Before we left I packed a bundle of ‘thank you’ cards I had made to leave for our hosts in the B&B and Airbnb places we had included in our itinerary. I delighted in leaving a message of thanks in each unique and wonderful place we stayed.

Here are some of our highlights … please bear in mind that I have close 2000 photographs … so I think I have shown some restraint!

[bear with me as I try to work out why some of them turn when I post … they look fine in the draft … a new tech challenge for me!]

THERE ARE A RANGE OF WARNING SIGNS WE DO NOT SEE IN AUSTRALIA … THIS IS ONE!

and while driving, instead of seeing kangaroo, koala, echidna, emu or cassowary road warning signs.

in the US you are more likely to see – elk, moose, beaver, bear …

“ALL MY FRIENDS ARE GETTING MARRIED” …well, some of my friends’ children …

It is definitely scary when your friends’ children start getting married!

[and for those of you with a love of Australian music c1970s … can you name the band?]

These weddings have only started this year … and this is one wedding that we, unfortunately, are unable to attend …

… so I have been working on a 3D wedding card to send to Caitlin and Bryn … and here is the end result!

I have used elements from their invitation – bronze, Watermelon Wonder and Blushing Bride pinks, and floral notes.

… the Thick Baker’s Twine [WW] was perfect for a ‘tying the knot’ embellishment that I made for the top of the lid.

I created a pocket, for the gift card we will give the newly weds, just under the thoughts we want to share with them.

Making this card has been a wonderful experience … and all the ‘easier’ for having the coordinated range of Stampin’ Up! products on hand to make this possible.

Yes … I am sitting back, smiling … very happy with the end result!!
