WEDDING BELLS

Hello to those of you who pop by to check out what I’m up to – I’m pleased that you do!

Some of you may have seen that I was a vendor at local weekend market and twilight market in early December. It was a wonderful opportunity to let local residents know about what I offer in terms of classes, events and market card and papercraft products.

After the market events, I made a shortlist of card genres that I needed more of. With this information, I was able to start making cards in these areas. Firstly, I made a bundle of gender neutral/more masculine thank you cards – I had no shortage of floral/feminine cards. Next, I created more cards to congratulate new parents.

Today, I started working on the next category of cards I needed to enhance – WEDDING CARDS. I have made quite a few and will post them over the next few days. This is the first card I made.

The LOVE YOU ALWAYS SUITE is perfect for this category. For this card, I chose the Sahara Sand sheet from the LOVE YOU ALWAYS SPECIALTY DESIGNER SERIES PAPER.

I adhered the DSP layer onto a Sahara Sand card base.

For the ALWAYS base and DAINTY DIAMOND 3D embossed strip, under the FOREVER & sentiment, I used some of the PEARLESCENT SPECIALTY PAPER. I am definitely going to be ordering lots more of the Pearescent Specialty Paper – it is so sumptuous.

‘FOREVER &’, stamped in Sahara Sand on Sahara Sand looks great, but looks even better when it is cut using one of the coordinating dies.

I was so very pleased by how well the BEADED PEARLS looked on the card front.

I stamped ‘congratulations’ onto the card insert and it is from the 2020 – 2021 ANNUAL CATALOGUE stamp set LAST A LIFETIME.

I adhered a strip of DAINTY DIAMOND 3D embossed PEARLESCENT SPECIALTY PAPER onto the envelope front.

While I haven’t been to a wedding recently, I think that this card would be perfect of a guest of my age to attach to a gift.

What do you think? Is it a style of formal wedding card?

Happy stamping.

LIP SERVICE

Hello to all of my creative friends who pop in from time to time – thank you for visiting me again.

There is nothing insincere about my love of Stampin’ Up!® and its amazing, high quality products – my use of the expression ‘lip service’ relates to today’s project.

When I was at the supermarket recently I found a tube of lip balm and I knew that I should buy it and package it more attractively. A good lip balm gives your lips good care – ‘service’.

I decided to use a sheet of paper from the FINE ART FLORAL DESIGNER SERIES PAPER that could be described as a bit like a beehive design. The Burt’s Bees container is more of a Bumblebee colour but I wanted to match the DSP and went for So Saffron.

The ITTY BITTY GREETING STAMP SET provided the sentiment I wanted and was a perfect size for the CLASSIC LABEL PUNCH.

The BASIC GRAY TWINE from the WELL SUITED TWINE COMBO PACK was a good match to secure the greeting banners in place.

I enjoy the challenge of making gift boxes and packaging. It requires me to visualise a package, take measurements and plan a two dimensional plan for a three dimensional final product.

This is why I really love pattern making and sewing. The idea that you could design a garment or see a garment in a magazine and break it down to translate it to a flat pattern that, when sewn, results in a wearable and hopefully, fashionable piece of clothing. And, as I approach a 6 figure age at the end of this year, I am drawn to all those thinking skills that will keep my brain age younger.

This style of box can easily be upsized to hold a new lipstick. What would you use this style of box for?

Happy stamping.

LOTS OF LOVELY BOXES

Hello to all my stamps, ink and paper friends – thanks for popping by.

After sharing quite a few cards in recent days, I needed to make a 3D project (well, a few).

I was inspired by a blog post from Ashee Ahmad, shared by Sonia da Silva on Facebook. Ashee Ahmad, a demonstrator from Lincoln, UK, shared a square fold flat gift box. I followed her instructions to make a gift box using the FINE ART FLORAL DSP.

How to Make a Square Fold Flat Gift Box – Crafting with Ashee
Ashee Ahmad’s gift box

And, I made a few more! The bottom flap opens in the same wasy as the lid so you can fold them flat.

The first box is a 2″ cube. It is the second smallest one that I made. I made three larger and one smaller – the sizes are 1-3/4″, 2″, 2-1/4″, 2-1/2″ and 2-3/4″ cubes.

I used Old Olive and a sheet of FINE ART FLORAL DSP.

Now I just need to make a few gift tags to coordinate with the boxes.

A huge thank you to Ashee for sharing her box instructions.

I imagine jewellery surprises tucked away in each box. What would you put into the boxes?

Happy stamping.

These are the products I used to make these boxes. If you live in Australia, you can order any of these products by simply clicking on the SHOP NOW icon or directly on the product you want to order..
