HAND PENNED

Hello and welcome! Thank you for popping by to see what I have been creating.

Today’s post is much later than usual – oops. Over the next several days, I plan to make a range of different projects featuring the stunning Hand Penned Suite. These projects will be all about showcasing these gorgeous new products.

The star of this card is the Hand Penned 12″x 12″ Designer Series Paper. After cutting the DSP for the card front, I cut lengths of the Fresh Freesia and Soft Succulent Open Weave Ribbon and positioned them in parallel bands across the patterned paper.

The sentiment was stamped in Soft Succulent and cut using, my new favourite dies, Tailor Made Tags Dies. I cut two more using Fresh Freesia nd Soft Succulent cardstock. The tags were adhered together and layered. I added the circular reinforcement before threading through a length of Fresh Freesia Open Weave Ribbon and securing it with a tied bow using the White Twine from the Snail Mail Twine Combo Pack.

I used Mini Glue Dots to attach the Loose Flower Flourishes to the card front. These floral flourishes are so pretty and I’m looking forward to using them more in other projects.

The stitching detail on the tags is lovely. I love all my stitched dies. It is so easy to create a gorgeous card when the products available do all the ‘heavy lifting’.

So pretty – so happy.

Happy stamping.

COLOUR INKSPIRATION #CI97

Hello to each of you who have popped by!

Today I want to share a card I made for a Colour Inkspiration challenge. The colours this time are rich and earthy, in a real Australian way. I love the black silhouette of the windmill against this sunset. I have a friend who has recently set off on a 6 month caravanning holiday through Queensland the Northern Territory and Western Australia. She shared photos this week from the Simpson Desert.

May be an image of text that says '#97 COLOUR SPIRTI SPIRATION CHALLENGES Rococo Rose Calypso Coral Pumpkin Pie Crushed Curry'

My card uses some new products from the upcoming 2021 – 2022 Annual Catalogue from Stampin’ Up!®.

I started by using my Blending Brushes and one of the Basic Pattern Decorative Masks to brush all four colours onto a piece of Shimmery White cardstock. I worked the colours diagonally from the top left hand corner down and across to the bottom right hand corner. I started with Calypso Coral then moved on to the Rococo Rose before adding Pumpkin Pie and finishing with Crushed Curry (light, dark, dark, light).

TIP: You do not need to have a Blending Brush for every colour. I have one for yellows and one for pinks. The tip is to use your gridpaper or paper towel to remove as much ink possible from the brush. You can also use your Simply Shammy to remove even more ink.

Then I used the wonderful, new Tailor Made Tags Dies to cut the four tags from the ‘masked’ paper. The fifth, final small tag was stamped with a sentiment and splotches image from the Quiet Meadow Stamp Set.

The Pumpkin Pie reinforcer shape you can see next to the ‘Thinking of You’ greeting was die cut after some Adhesive Sheet was placed on the back of a scrap of cardstock.

I used my Stamparatus, and the hinge step technique, to stamp the text onto the front of the Pumpkin Pie card front. Then I stamped the speckled image across the front as well. When the front of the card was stamped, I used Stampin’ Dimensionals and Multi Purpose Glue to layer and position the tags. This was done so that all of the reinforcement shapes were layered over each other – this meant that I could thread some White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon through the holes and tie a bow.

I added a strip of the brushed masked image to the card insert and stamped the text image onto the front of the envelope.

I wasn’t sure how this project would turn out. While a glorious sunset is inspiring, I wasn’t all too sure how I could use these colours effectively. I am actually pleased with the result. What do you think?

Happy stamping.

TIME FOR A GLOBAL DESIGN CHALLENGE #GDP287

Hello and thank you being here, again, today. I am so pleased that you are popping by to see what my latest project is.

It is Sunday, so it’s a Global Design Challenge project. This week, it’s a THEME CHALLENGE.

For this card, I decided to use some of the products from the Sand & Sea Suite. Then I chose three colours that all have sea related names – Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana and Pacific Point.

The first step was to stamp the shell, starfish and sand images onto the background layer. Then I embossed three pieces of cardstock and cut them so that the strips, placed over the background, were perfectly matched. If I had placed them side by side, they would align and match a 3-3/4″x 4″ section of the embossed design. The three panels are popped up using Stampin’ Dimensionals, to give some added height.

The next thing I did was to stamp, die cut and emboss the nautilus shell. I used some of the gold twine from the Forever Green Trim Combo Pack to create three loops behind the shell – I’m going to miss this twine when it retires. The loops were attached to the back of the shell using some strips of Stampin’ Seal. A few Dimensionals were attached to the back of the shell and the shell positioned on the card front. The shell then had some Clear Wink of Stella brushed across it.

I stamped the greeting and sand image onto a scrap of Basic White cardstock and used one of the new and totally amazing Tailor Made Tag Dies to cut it out. The dies also have coordinating reinforcement shapes, that I used to add some Pacific Point colour to the label. I used some more of the gold twine to wrap through tags hole.

TIP: place some Adhesive Sheet behind your chosen cardstock before cutting out the reinforcement shapes. Then you can avoid getting sticky, glue fingers trying to apply Multipurpose Adhesive to the back of the shape.

I used some of the remaining embossed cardstock to finish the card insert and envelope.

I am so pleased with the way this card looks – it is definitely so by the sea.

Happy stamping.
