A GOOD OLD-FASHIONED

It took me a while to order the WHISKEY BUSINESS STAMP SET but it is going to be such a great set for masculine cards.

For this card I knew immediately that I would use CINNAMON CIDER as the base colour. The WORLD OF GOOD SPECIALTY DSP coordinates perfectly for this project.

I used the STITCHED RECTANGLES DIES to cut out the frame for the decanter and cup. The patina appearance was achieved by using a sponge dauber to add extra patches of colour.

Unfortunately, the WINDOW SHEET reflects the light in these photos today.

An empty decanter, on the card front, does not suggest much of a gift is likely. But, fortunately, this is a self-filling decanter.

As the tab, made with the ESSENTIAL TAG PUNHC, is gently pulled a line of Cinnamon Cider appears.

As the tag continues to be raised, the decanter and glass refills, until it’s full.

I can’t remember the last time I made a MAGIC COLOUR REVEAL SLIDER CARD. It was lots of fun to make – I think there will be a few more in the pipeline.

Now, I need to think of some other stamp sets and images I can use to make some more. It is amazing to see the colours revealed as the piece of card slides out of the way.

I can’t wait to give this card for a special birthday. Who would you give it to?

Thanks for popping by … happy stamping.

IN TIMES OF SADNESS

Yesterday, I shared some cards I made to welcome little ones into the world, because I didn’t have many made for my market stall.

At the other end of the life cycle, I also have very few sympathy cards. So, today I thought I would make a couple to add to my ‘thinking of you’ basket.

I used three different stamp sets – COMFORT & HOPE, LOYAL LEAVES and PEACEFUL MOMENTS.

The colours I chose are subdued and peaceful – EARLY ESPRESSO, SOFT SEA FOAM, SOFT SUEDE and VERY VANILLA.

The sentiment is not an obvious ‘sympathy’ one but I like that it offers hope to the recipient and an opportunity for the person giving it to offer a message of hope.

I chose not to use any floral stamps because there are times when the card needs to be masculine. Both of these cards use simple stamping techniques and a little die cutting.

I love the leaves in the LOVELY LEAVES STAMP SET and they are a great alternative for flowers.

Then I had to decide what to pop under the die cut sentiment – ribbon or strips of cardstock. I could have coloured a length of lightly coloured ribbon but decided to use up some scraps of Soft Sea Foam card.

I like to make sure I have some lovely sympathy cards on hand (and for the markets) but I hope that I don’t need to make any more, any time soon.

When it is time to give someone a sympathy card, I also give the bereaved a plant (usually rosemary – ‘for remembrance’) rather than flowers. What do you do?

Thanks for popping by … special stamping.

TIME FOR SOME NEW ARRIVALS

Earlier this week, I shared some photos of my stall at the Dockside Markets.

It was good to know what sort of cards people were looking for, so that I could discover what cards I would need to make.

First on the list – cards for newborns. I used the WILDLY HAPPY STAMP SET because the images are so super cute.

I decided to use soft, pastel colours for the cards – PETAL PINK, SEASIDE SPRAY and SOFT SEA FOAM.

The ‘Congratulations’ sentiment is from the PEACEFUL MOMENTS STAMP SET.

I had a relaxing time colouring in the images using the STAMPIN’ BLENDS – lots and lots of colouring.

I made a total of 16 cards to pop into my Baby Cards Basket.

I also discovered that I need some more stamp sets to be able to make different baby cards.

It is so easy to coordinate when cardstock and Designer Series Paper come in the same colour families – this time I chose from the SUBTLES and 2019-2020 IN COLOUR FAMILIES.

There are some really lovely new stamp sets in the JANUARY – JUNE 2021 MINI CATALOGUE.

One has totally cute pull toys and another is perfect for grandparents. Some sets also include a baby related greeting.

If you live in Australia and you would like a copy of the new catalogue and Sale-a-bration Brochure, make sure you contact me as soon as possible.

Thanks for popping by … happy stamping.
