2019 … AN EXCITING NEW YEAR

Well, after 35 years, I have finished teaching and we have just put our home on the market. Rob and I will be moving from Bargara to Kangaroo Point in Brisbane.

After a challenging 2018, exciting trip to On Stage in Orlando and getting the house ready to sell, I now have time to get back into my wonderful world of creating with Stampin’ Up! ® .

Now I can focus fully on mmm…Stampin’ Time – classes, workshops, videos, projects by post and lots of other adventures that I have planning to do.

I hope to stay connected with all the lovely ladies in Bundaberg who have come along to classes over the past five years, as well as meet new stampers when I move to Brisbane.

FIRST CARD FOR 2019

I saw a video by Jennifer McGuire where she used stamped and die cut images to creat a floating frame card. I used the new Forever Lovely stamp set and fussy cut it for this card.

The trick is to use Glas Press’n Seal wrap, which you can’t find on any supermarket shelves in Australia [that I know of] but you can order it here from USAFoods – this is where I also source my rolls of waxed paper.

I hope that everyone has an amazing and creative 2019,

Michele

FRESHLY BREWED PROJECTS BLOG HOP/CHALLENGE – PAINTED WITH LOVE SUITE

Wednesday 14th February

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY to everyone … thanks for popping by to see this week’s blog hop.

Sorry that I missed joining in last week but I am very pleased to be back for today because we are featuring the perfect suite of Stampin’ Up!® for making cards and projects for someone you love – PAINTED WITH LOVE.

I made this card for a work get-together that I hosted last Tuesday, after school finished … this is the second time I’ve held a Valentine’s card making activity for my colleagues to join in.

Here’s a photo of two teachers making their cards … Luke actually made a birthday card, for his partner, as well.

The card was so quick and easy to make, which was great for my mixed ability group … and they loved the way the small heart sentiments linked the card to the envelope … ‘I’m yours’ … ‘Always’.

The second card … which is even easier … was a great way for me to use up the hearts that we had cut out to create the raised card front for the first card. Several loops of gold metallic thread and some pearl basic jewels coloured using a Stampin’ Blends marker made a basic card so much prettier.

I don’t often stamp a sentiment onto Designer Series Paper … but I really liked the effect for this super simple card … definitely worth trying more often.

I have included a product list for you to see what I used to create these cards … I also used my Bigshot, which always sits on the bench beside me when I’m paper crafting … I cannot live without it [actually I have more than one].

FRESHLY BREWED PROJECTS BLOG HOP/CHALLENGE – PETAL PASSION SUITE

Wednesday, January 31st

Thanks for dropping by for this Latte Girls’ Blog Hop\Challenge.

Today’s Freshly Brewed Projects features the elegant Petal Passion Suite from the 2018 Occasions’ Catalogue. There are five products in the suite, as well as a coordinating Memories & More Card Pack … aren’t they simply stunning!

Petal Palette Clear-Mount Bundle   Petal Passion Designer Series Paper
Petal Passion Embellishments   Whisper White 1/4" (6.4 Mm) Organza Ribbon   Petal Pair Textured Impressions Embossing Folders
With so many inspiring elements in the suite it can seem overwhelming … for this blog hop, I decided to showcase the Designer Series Paper and Whisper White 1/4″ Organza Ribbon.
The DSP is made up of 12 different handpainted watercolour designs in shades of black and white. This means that you can use your favourite colouring techniques to customise the paper for your project. I chose Powder Pink and Old Olive and simply coloured some of the DSP squares using either a Stampin’ Write Marker™ or Stampin’ Blends in the corresponding colours.
I decided to create a ‘sampler card’ by using each the 12 designs and colouring most of them … I really like the finished product.
I love using the Stitched Shapes Framelits … they give that special stitched finish to your project elements.
As you can see, I did use one of the stamps for the card insert and envelope.
The Organza Ribbon helps to create a balanced focal point for the card.
I hope that you enjoy this project … and the other projects posted for this blog hop. Visit them now!
